If a material document is posted by mistake then SAP gives an option to cancel the material document. The following formula is used to find out the reversal movement type

Reversal movement type = original movement type + 1

An example is given in table 1

Goods movement	Movement Type	Reversal movement type
Goods receipt for PO	101	102
Goods receipt blocked stock	103	104
Return delivery	122	123
Initial stock upload	561	562

 

If you want to cancel a material document, you would typically follow these steps:

1. Open the SAP GUI and log in to the SAP system.
2. Use transaction code MIGO or MBST (for cancelling goods movements) to open the ‘Cancel Material Document’ screen in the system.
3. Enter the suitable movement type and the material document number that you wish to cancel.
4. Choose the cancellation reason for the document cancellation.
5. Tick on the “Post” button to process the cancellation of the material document.
6. After posting the cancellation, look over the system for any error messages or warnings.
